These are excellent reflections, it would be great if you were able to elaborate on why you chose these specific elements?
ReplyDeleteDinarzad: I made these choices because Dinarzad is often worried that her sister will be killed at any moment. Since it is not her place to speak, she must release tension in some way and wringing her hands seems the only outlet available. As a result I chose to use her quilt as an expression of her concern by wringing it with my hands. Similarly, I would wring my hands when the executioner waits to take Shaharazad.
ReplyDeleteRider: I made these choices because the 'slash' effort reminded me of the sword's motion and 'punch' reminded me of the brute force necessary to fight, which must be a big part of the rider's character. Through making my movements sudden and fast I was able to express these efforts.
Marriage broker: Since the marriage broker only introduces herself and doesn't go on about the wedding, she seems cool and calm; easy to arrange a wedding in an instant, chilled out and not easily stressed. I chose water and Californian, therefore, as expressions for the marriage broker because they embody these relaxed and continuous qualities. The way in which Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter is dreamy and in her own world, reminded me of the marriage broker's attitude to life.
Old religious woman: I like this character best and thought most about her because she is the most different from myself and, therefore, the one I could take the most risks with. From my own experience I know how to be a worried sister (because often I am about my brothers) but this woman is a different age, she is religious whereas I'm not, and passionate where I am more relaxed. Being able to relate to Dinarzad but less with this woman, forced me to use more of my imagination and I enjoyed the challenge.
